The Agribiosystems Machinery and Power Engineering Division (AMPED) is one of the academic units of the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. AMPED was created to provide leadership in the field of Agricultural Machinery, Farm Power, and Mechanization. Agricultural mechanization embraces the manufacture, distribution, operation, and management of all types of tools, implements, machines, and equipment for agricultural land development, farm production, crop harvesting, and postharvest operations. It includes three technological levels of mechanization, namely hand tool technology (HTT), animal draft technology (ADT), and engine power technology (EPT). Farm mechanization plays a vital role in reducing human drudgery and raising agricultural productivity.
The efficient use of farm machinery is a function of the support of other factors, namely credit, marketing, repair and maintenance, education, training, and research. Majority of these factors are the core activities of the Agribiosystems Machinery and Power Engineering Division.
